After a little more than a week of being open for business, we at Farecast received hundreds of emails with our users’ questions, comments and suggestions. The top suggestions include:
- “I was very interested in this site when I first read about it, but with only 2 cities, for now it is pretty worthless to most people.”
- “Consumers really need to know about when to buy international tickets on popular routes.”
- “Residents of NY have a choice of 3 airports, La Guardia, JFK & EWR it would be great if there could be a choice that would allow to selection of all three airports.”
Yes, we’re working to add more cities ASAP. Yes, we’re considering adding international flights, but this may take a while. Yes, we’ll work to search nearby airports (for all you New Yorkers out there… we get it!).
In the meantime, here’s a glimpse at some of the other comments users sent in (some of you are addicted already!):
- “I love the statistics and data richness of the site. Your system of dials for narrowing down search results is so much better than any system that I’ve seen. It’s amazing that you have improved this process so much.”
- “My friend and I joked about airfares being determined by Excel’s random number generator, but now we will have a real system to look at. Y’all are awesome.”
- “You will need federal warning label. This site will be highly addictive once other cities are added. I can forecast spending hours of billable time at work searching for deals and thousands of dollars in bookings. Consequently, you will likely need to label your site as addictive, like a tobacco product.”
Keep your feedback coming! We love to hear your all your comments and suggestions.
Are you kidding? Only two airports? How about adding Houston Intercontinental?
Otherwise, your idea ist great.
Great idea and web site! But how does Farecast make money on this idea? Venture capital does not flow to startups that serve consumer interests without providing any ROI… Can’t find any info on the web site that explains how Farecast gets a piece of the action…
Doug, we are glad to hear you like the site. Mike Fridgen, our VP of Marketing and Product Development, responded to a similar question on a previous post regarding Gnomedex. In the short term, we plan to make money on advertising and supplier referral fees. Thanks for sharing your comment.
How long until you have a complete airport departure list ?
Celeste, your question is a very popular one. In our very first blog post “Farecast Grand Opening”, our CEO, Hugh Crean, shared our answer. “We are working as quickly as possible to expand our coverage. Farecast plans to launch all major domestic airports by year end. Thanks for your patience.” If you’d like to request a particular city, please vote via the Add My City link located at the top of http://www.farecast.com
