7. Houston: George Bush Intercontinental Airport
Named for the first President Bush, this airport is easily navigated via the airport train or the automated “people mover.”
Best place to get a drink
Bubba’s Seafood Grill in Terminal C.
Best place to eat
Good bets: CK’s, a revolving restaurant atop the Marriott Hotel in the center of the terminal complex; Bubba’s in Terminal C, and Drexler’s Barbecue in Terminal E.
Best place to amuse the kids
Take little ones to terminal A to see the bronze tree sculpture and the 200-foot long glass mural; or to Terminal C to rent a DVD and DVD player at InMotion Entertainment.
Best shopping
Shop Terminal C for Western wear at Stelzig or business wear at Brooks Brothers; check out Terminal E’s Metropolitan Museum of Art Store for cool gifts.
Best place to get online
Wi-fi is available pretty much everywhere in the airport (for a fee); the laptop-less can find Internet kiosks in Terminal C.
Best cheap way to escape the airport
For just $1.50, you can take the #102 Bush Intercontinental Airport Express bus from Terminal C into the city.
Best place to see something cool
Head for the corridor that leads to Terminal B, where the Bayou comes to life with a giant glass mosaic mural and bronze animals embedded in the floor.
