Long layovers are never fun. But every airport has its hidden pleasures, if you know where to look. Make the most of the time you’re grounded, with our guides to the ten busiest airports in the U.S.

We continue our countdown of the busiest airports in the U.S. with #8 JFK.

8. New York City: John F. Kennedy International Airport
JFK is huge, but you can hop the AirTrain for a quick trip between terminals.

The Napa Valley Wine Bar (Terminal 1), Sam Adams Brewhouse (Terminal 3).

Best place to eat
Deep Blue Sushi (Terminal 6), Atlantic Bar and Grille (Terminal 7).

Best place to amuse the kids

Best shopping
Swank shopping in Terminal 1 includes Bulgari, Cartier, and Hermes; Terminal X is home to the Metropolitan Museum of Art store.

JetBlue (Terminal 6) offers free wi-fi; access is available in other terminals for a fee.

Best cheap way to escape the airport
