Make the most of the time you’re grounded, with our guides to the ten busiest airports in the U.S.
Our countdown of the busiest airports in the U.S. continues with #4 Dallas-Fort Worth.
4. Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport
DFW is big—bigger than the island of Manhattan (this is Texas, after all!) You can make the rounds of the five terminals in about 20 minutes on the Skylink airport train.
Best place to get a drink
Wine tasting in the airport? You bet—head for La Bodega Winery and Tasting Bar in Terminals A and D. If sports bars are more your scene, try the Texas Stadium Skybox (Terminals A, B, C).
Best place to eat
Hop the train to Terminal D for good and varied eats including sushi (Blue Bamboo Xpress), Tex-Mex (Cantina Laredo), and Texas-style barbecue (Cousin’s BBQ).
Best place to amuse the kids
Take ‘em to Terminal D for huge stone mosaics, plenty of colorful artwork, and captivating sculptures including a giant wishbone. Or visit the Magnetism Magnet Store in Terminal E.
Best shopping
La Bodega Winery (Terminals A and D) for Texas wines and wine accessories; Mercado Gifts (Terminal A) for Mexican folk art.
Best place to get online
Samsung Mobile Travel Centers (in the Skylink stations in Terminals A, B, C, and E) offer comfy leather couches, semi-private workstations, Internet access, power outlets, and Starbucks coffee.
Best cheap way to escape the airport
Ride the Trinity Railway Express (closed Sundays) into Dallas: Take the Remote South bus from your terminal, then board another bus to the CentrePort/DFW station, where you’ll get the train.
Best place to see something cool
Check out the outdoor sculpture garden under the arrivals level canopy outside Terminal D.
