There are many ways to golf. Strong drives down the fairways. Perfect putts. A hole in one. Essentially, there are as many golf destinations and courses as there are styles of swinging a club. If you’re a golf enthusiast you can use Farecast to help plan that golf vacation.

Pebble Beach, Hilton Head, and Kapalua rank high for golf duffers (or the rich and famous, which is why they are so fun to daydream about visiting or plan to visit for real). Here’s the skinny on why and three different ways to get there when the price is right in a series of three posts starting with this one.

Pebble Beach, California

Nearby airports: San Jose, Oakland, or San Francisco, CA

Pebble Beach sits on California’s Monterey Peninsula overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Three golf courses are award-winners and offer sweeping water views and challenges to golfers: Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course, and The Links at Spanish Bay. Two courses are inland, one an 18-hole course the other a 9-hole course. Famous for its mesmerizing scenery, Pebble Beach is off the beaten path but worth the journey. Explore nearby Monterey Bay Aquarium, the artistic, seaside town of Carmel and wind along Pebble Beach’s famous 17-Mile Drive, one of California’s most revered road trips.
