If you’ve been thinking about taking a trip over Labor Day weekend, but have been putting off buying your tickets, it’s not necessarily too late to get a good price.
I spent a little time digging through the data, and one gem I turned up is Phoenix to San Francisco. A three day trip over Labor Day weekend in Bay Area’s relatively cooler climes will run you just $220 on US Airways. That’s only $35 higher than the lowest fare we’ve ever seen for that route, and well below the historical average fare. Be warned, this fare is only valid if you reserve 21 days in advance, and the seats could sell out at any time, so book quickly!
Here is a sample of other cities which, as I write, still have very reasonable fares for Labor Day Weekend:
So take a look at your favorite city, prices might not be as bad as you think. If you’re unlucky and the price for your favorite city has been rising, you can salve your wounded pocketbook with the knowledge that at least you’re probably paying less this year than you would have last year. As I’ve previously reported, lowest-price airfares are significantly cheaper this year than last year at this time, and while the gap for Labor Day weekend is smaller, those fares are still about 2% less expensive than last year.
