Our countdown of the busiest airports in the U.S. continues with #3 Los Angeles International Airport.
3. Los Angeles International Airport
LAX is big, but it’s relatively easy to walk between terminals, or you can catch a shuttle bus from the lower level.
Best place to get a drink
Brewpubs galore–Gordon Biersch (Terminal 1), Redondo Beach Brewing (Terminal 6), and Karl Strauss Microbrewery (Terminal 7).
Best place to eat
Brioche Doreé (Terminal 4), Eaturna (Terminal1), Encounter Restaurant (in the Theme Building at the Center of the airport). The Encounter Restaurant is temporarily closed; check for updates before you go.
Best place to amuse the kids
Take a short cab ride to the Flight Path Learning Center, a museum dedicated to Southern California’s rich aviation history. Admission is free.
Best shopping
Pick up a treat for your furry friends at Bow Wow Meow (Terminal 1) or shop for California-style gifts, home accessories, and fashion at Destination LA/LA Edge (Terminal 4).
Best place to get online
Wi-fi is available in some areas of the airport (for a fee). The Travel Right Café in Terminal 4 offers free Internet access, and Internet kiosks are available in Terminals 1, 2, 3, and 6.
Best cheap way to escape the airport
Take the free shuttle bus from the Central Terminal Area to the Green Line; switch to the Blue line at the Rosa Parks station. It’ll take you about an hour to get from the airport to the city.
Best place to see something cool
Many beaches, including Venice Beach and Redondo Beach, are only 5 - 7 miles from the airport. Grab a cab—just remember that LA traffic can make your trip a bit longer than expected.
